This 2-part webinar series will explore the Centaur objects Pholus and Nessus. The Centaurs are a subgroup of Minor Planets which show astronomical characteristics similar to Chiron. Like Chiron, most Centaur orbits cross over the pathways of at least one of the planets from Saturn outwards. This threshold crossing process symbolises the bringing of light to the usually invisible Underworld processes within the soul that underpin, accompany, bridge and complement our journey of healing and awakening. Indeed, they have a symbolic and astronomical relationship to Pluto, which will be described. The centaurs occupy a key position between the material world symbolised by Saturn on the one side, and the spiritual world symbolised by Uranus, Neptune and Pluto on the other. In mythology the centaurs' form by itself already reveals an important aspect of what they symbolise, namely the conflict of mind, reason and wisdom on the one hand and animalistic drive, rampancy and daring on the other. Most of the centaurs gave in to their animal instincts. They loved using alcohol to get intoxicated, The centaurs probably originate from the Kuiper Belt which lies beyond the orbits of Neptune and Pluto. Next to the...possible bridge-function between asteroids and comets or/and as precursors to comets, observation of the centaurs has shown that they share the following characteristics:

Pholus has the ability to maintain alive the illusion (Neptune) and achive the necesary discipline (Saturn) to make a dream come true, like in the movies "Far and Away" (1992) or Nike's (Michael Jordan -Dream Team-) slogan "Just do it" (1992). Pholus awakes the need to impose limits (Saturn) while investigating the paranormal energies (Neptune), like in the TV Serie "X-Files" (1992). Also, between reality and fiction, like in the movie "Basic Instinct" (1992)." Pholus was discovered in 1992 and its 90-year orbit crosses over that of Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Its terrain of reference may include both the realms of intrauterine life, and also the ancestral domain, as well as oracular speaking. The recent squares of Chiron and Pholus (2015-2024) will be included as one of the astrological signatures of these last tumultuous years, including the pandemic.

Whether or not this group of planets will become firmly established within astrology is still open to question. Some astrologers fear that the continual increase in horoscope factors could end up distracting attention from the more essential elements in the horoscope. And whereas Chiron has become fairly widely accepted, Pholus and Nessus have remained in relative obscurity.

The lower left table shows sign changes and retrograde/direct activity. First, sign changes are displayed in the table under the ephemeris under the title “Ingresses.” Second, the “Stations” section shows planets and precise dates and times when they change direction, either retrograde (marked with an Rx) or direct (marked with a D). These appear only if there is a directional change.The ephemerides above display each planet or point by degree and sign (longitude) at Midnight in the Eastern time zone at a daily rate. The centaurs can also display a coma (a cloud of gas and dust evaporating from the surface) similar to comets when in close proximity to the Sun. The decision by astronomers to adopt the word centaur as an alternative word for planetoid can in part be attributed to the names given to them by astrologers. They are planetary bodies with characteristics that lie somewhere between asteroids and comets. Robert von Heeren names the following criteria as being necessary to fall into this group:
