Bought this CD as we have listened to this many times at my parents house and I'm pleased to have my own copy for the car during the Christmas season! The first, and best, of Elvis’s seasonal offerings, made when Presley was still within touching distance of his early, raw rockabilly years: listen to the intense, bluesy opener, Santa Claus Is Back in Town, for proof. This is a record you put on when your relatives have all mercifully gone home and you can finally sit back in your favorite chair and slowly get loaded on Old Overholt while you watch some crap college bowl game with the sound off. The stylistic invention and off-handed majesty never let up; their plaintively ringing "Silver Bells" is as pretty as a Velvet Underground benediction. Bublé also tries his hand at Mariah Carey's Christmas behemoth "All I Want for Christmas Is You," a bold attempt at taking an uplifting power ballad and turning it into something a little more broody, and we won't hold against him.

If ever there was an ideal host for a star-studded holiday evening, it's Armstrong, who masterfully weaves his way through the classics, plus a few original tunes with his signature sound that are impossible not to enjoy. On songs like "Skating" and "Christmas Is Coming," the Vince Guaraldi Trio nails a perfect balance of buoyant anticipation and wintry introspection. Also featured was Queen's " One Vision" and many pop punk and nu metal songs which were fairly recent at the time of release. It's a balancing act we didn't know we needed, and it may just be the most unique entry on this list. Bob Dylan might not be the first musician the holiday season brings to mind, but Christmas in the Heart still delivers the Christmas spirit with a side of surreality. It is rare in our experience that items go missing entirely, but occasionally they are delayed by a few days.

Guests include Duke Ellington, Lena Horne, and Dinah Washington, all singing alongside Armstrong while he jovially bellows out hit after hit. He sings carols with conviction, but it’s the tunes he wrote himself that really hit home – not least the cheeringly realistic Get Behind Me, Santa! Quite sparsely arranged, it allows the Roche sisters’ harmonies to dazzle – the acappella Star of Wonder is magical – while their New York-accented Winter Wonderland is an absolute hoot. While both works are certainly about Christmas, the songs' lighthearted jazz has permeated pop culture to a point that nearly all of us can enjoy them, regardless of faith or creed. Listen to Darlene Love’s beseeching voice on Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and the poised blend of cuteness and toughness the Ronettes bring to Sleigh Ride, and it’s hard not to succumb.Whilst Air Guitar III proclaimed to be the final volume, the liner notes written by May in The Best of the Best start with "OK, we lied. The heartwarming take on what the holiday season really means is pleasant for the entire family; meanwhile, the soundtrack by the Vince Guaraldi Trio is just as much of a classic as the movie itself.
