I applied it to my swing and after a month of getting used to it my consistency and mental aptitude during the swing have strengthened considerably without having to really make a big swing change.

If you want to become a better golfer, you will need to learn to dig in when things aren’t going your way and change your habits.

I have heard from so many of you directly over the years and truly appreciate all of the support you have given me. I still have a long way to go, but I'm glad I picked this book up so soon after picking the game up again in my mid-30s. I would recommend this book to anyone who (or is thinking of) swinging a golf club… Male, Female, Teen. Then I spent hours of meaningful practice to settle on a wedge technique that I could feel comfortable with. The quality of the information in this book was high, there just wasn't a whole lot I didn't already know. Not started applying loads of this yet but even just reflecting on the chapter about grit really helped me after a couple of tough/disappointing sessions at the range. But because this game can be so challenging and mentally exhausting at times, adding a bit of grit is almost necessary for most. I have yet to find a book more comprehensive, yet approachable, and so vital to learning the foundations of golf. This is a great “coaching” book; you won’t find any swing tips or advice on technical maneuvers here.

I’m done comparing myself with much younger golfers who are fit and trim and can wind up like a cork screw. Terrific stuff to base my game on as I move forward and remember your not good enough to be that annoyed! I was utterly terrified of intermediate wedge shots for years and would do anything to avoid leaving myself 30-80 yards from the hole.

Also, anyone who follows Jon on social media will find a lot the same things discussed there covered again in the book. This section, along with the work of many of Jon’s references, showed data and educated or corrected me on defining: what is a good golf shot; what is a good round; and setting realistic performance expectations. Learn the philosophy that has helped thousands of players worldwide lower their scores and improve their relationship with golf. If you are reading this book to become the absolute best golfer and want to lower your handicap, this chapter will be vital, especially if you lack grit. In terms of advice for things you can try out with your swing, the biggest one for me was Tour Tempo… wow.
