Description

As the Makita LS1018L is equipped with a 260-millimetre wide blade the user can easily cut beams up to 9 centimetres deep. The large blade of MAKITA is indeed quite helpful. To ensure the utmost accuracy, Makita have fitted the LS1018LN/1 with a laser guide rail and offer a max bevel range of 45 - 45 º to really get into those intricate cuts. Safety hasn't been neglected as Makita have equipped this saw with an electric brake and a soft start function to minimise the chance of the blade causing injury. Weighing in at 20.6kg this product is surprisingly lightweight and is sold as a single unit.

It goes beyond standard on its miter capabilities, plus it’s a dual bevel, meaning you can change the angle of the blade instead of flipping the workpiece over. Contractors tend to love this feature. the tool is not an Air Compressor/ Air Tool, a Battery/ Charger, an Accessory, or a Petrol or Production Tool I don't understand what all the negative comments are about for this machine. I think it's quite adequate. I'm an engineer/home handyman and wanted something of reasonable quality. The Makita LS1018LN/1 110V 260mm Slide Compound Mitre Saw Laser will prove valuable to professionals such as carpenters and kitchen fitters. The powerful 110V motor has an input wattage of 1430W and a no load speed of 4300rpm to make short work of crosscuts and mitre cuts. This saw excels at cutting through wider materials and structures, such as boards and frames, thanks to its 260mm blade with a 30mm bore diameter. Moreover, there is an additional voucher inside the box for claiming another saw blade for free. The Advantages And while it doesn’t quite have the vertical board cutting capacity of the Dewalt DW717, it still has a decent fence and can handle most crown molding and baseboard jobs. This is a 13 amp direct drive motor, with a soft-start feature. This is good for prolonging the life of the saw, and it has another benefit I really like. With the soft start, you have virtually zero chance of board shift on startup. So you end up saving time, and headache, with this feature. But at the decent price and low weight, the do-it-yourselfers can still reap great benefit without spending an arm and a leg.

The DIYer can get a lot out of this saw as it would handle about any home-improvement job you could throw at it. Basically, the same benefits as applied to a contractor, only you may not put as many hours on it. I brush the saw off at the end of each day's use, then vacuum to remove sawdust in hard to reach places. After far less than half a year, rust started forming on the rails and some of the screws. (The screws are coated for rust protection (resistance??).) This is one of the lightest 10″ sliding compound miter saws. It’s got enough features that there are lighter saws out there, but they still did really good with weight management on thismodel. Have just submitted a warranty claim to Makita for defective materials. This is not 'normal wear and tear', as these parts are supposed to be protected from corrosion to an extent. To understand the terminology... Mitre, Vs Bevel Vs Compound Vs Sliding Vs Gliding... not all saws work the same way. You'll find that each term builds on the last, adding some feature. While all of these saws can do mitre cuts, (as it's the most basic function) the term "Mitre Saw" while generically true... might be under-selling many saws that have additional capability.I attach 2 sets of wood screwed to the fence which serve as zero clearance kerf boards for both, 0 and 90 deg cuts and that works well. It also can handle a 45° miter cut thru an 8-1/2″ board. So again, really good capacities on the crosscut. All small-scale maintenance projects involving repairing window frames, laying laminate floors, and sitting can be completed efficiently due to MAKITA LS1018L’s presence. You will be flabbergasted to discover the pull function of MAKITA LS1018L, which is realized by the double tube. The roller bearings are joined to the rear swivel joint through this tube. You can never produce any low-quality blur works while using this saw. Specifications Product

Thestandard (somewhat poor) dust collection is one of the negatives most people notice. However, this has not been a deal killer for anyone that I’ve seen. Out of the box, you have to set up the Makita for accuracy, which is bloody unfortunate. It would seem tedious, but must be done. You must align the blade to the table top and the blade to the fence. There are some videos on you tube and this one is really helpful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGQmHPS4nU0 Today I’ll be writing the Makita LS1018 review – This is a high quality, highly rated sliding compound miter, built with the professional user in mind. Even still it doesn’t perform as good as say the Bosch CM10GD, but it does well enough. Just keep your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed! (seriously though, most miter saws dust collection is a joke) Versatility – this saw handles most jobs – but not all If you have worked with a power tool, you must have noticed a sudden jerk felt as soon as the machine is turned on. Thanks to the soft start technology, the MAKITA starts very smoothly when turned on, with the blade running slowly initially. The soft-start feature thus allows you to better control and grip the saw.

This particular saw can cut a 12″ wide board at 90°– so it’s great for shelving, wide dimensional lumber, plywood (see photo above), etc. However it’s decently priced, and DIYers, hobbyists, and woodworkers can also get great benefits from this tool It does have a bigger footprint due to the standard slide rails than it’s cousin, the Makita LS1019L, but that saw’s features come with a higher price tag (and total weight).

I haven’t set mine up with any dust extraction system, so dust is a bit of an issue. The saw comes with a little dust bag, but I’d say the majority of the sawdust doesn’t make it into the bag. However I gather this is fairly normal for mitre saws generally. And to conclude my Makita LS1018 review I would add this: The saw literally has great features for just about any type of user. Do you know that you can adjust MAKITA on a turntable effortlessly? The motorized MAKITA contains a rotating circular saw blade for slicing several kinds of materials. The turntable needs to be adjusted following the required angle for cut. After adjusting the turntable to either a preset degree that is 0, 22.5, 45, or 60, the inclination angle is set, and the safety lever is released. You can read the operation manual to read in detail the execution processes.

It’s built to last and has a decent warranty for the price tag. I would say for non-professionals, this tool will probably last a really long time. Do you know you can tilt the cross-cut saw head to both horizontal and vertical planes with the MAKITA? This tool is exceptionally adjustable, eliminating the need to tilt the beam or plank for minor cuts.
