Jeez! That just blew me away! I really wasn’t expecting the twisty ending until the last minute when the penny (or should I say Bad Penny) dropped! I've had my eyes on Twins since last year and I never got the chance to read it. I'm so happy that I finally did and it was a clear reminder of why I love middle grade graphic novels so much. The art is always fantastic and the storylines really capture the experience of their target audience. Johnson's work was pure perfection and I'm not surprised that so many readers already love this story. Corbett, Sue (22 October 2019). "Q & A with Eoin Colfer". Publishers Weekly . Retrieved 22 October 2019. Something unique to our family is that we have identical twins. There are both joys of being a twin as well as special challenges. Really liked the involvement of the parents, the military content (relatable for my community), and the issue-based campaigns they run. Good friendship stuff too.

Twin Books: 17 Highly Recommended Guides for Raising Twins Twin Books: 17 Highly Recommended Guides for Raising Twins

This book does a great job of explaining that being a twin isn’t about looking alike, it’s the joy of having a best friend to share life with through the years. As Margo’s supply of anxiety tablets runs out, she starts to remember fragments of how Annie died. Margo’s therapist and Cora’s ex-boyfriend also provide Margo with some clues. But can she take the truth? I don’t think I can say too much about this one without giving away too much of the plot - I went in completely blind and think you all should do as well. If you’d like trigger warnings please DM as this book does explore some serious topics ☺️ Joe Rawlinson takes a different approach, focusing on how dads can help raise twins while also balancing the rest of their lives. I really struggled with this one , I just couldn’t get into it. It was so slow, the storyline just didn’t grip me at all.

Additionally their family has depth, they support Maureen and Francine without being invasive or manipulative, but ultimately the parents make mistakes. Many in fact and they have to apologize and make amends for those mistakes. This book has so much depth, comedy, and a wonderful portrayal of complex emotions. Not to mention a microaggression moment in the mall that I FELT for the girls involved and I loved seeing a white presenting person saying something in the moment, showing what it looks like to be a comrade for people of color.

hanks to @scholasticinc for the free ARC to share with #kidlitexchange ! This new graphic novel by @mrvarianjohnson comes out 10/6! I related so much to this story because I’m a girl, I’ve been through middle school, and I have a sister. I loved the full circle plot and how Maureen and Fran eventually learn that they can still be close while having different interests. Sometimes my twins need a little reminder to play nicely and love each other, and this book is great for that! I just really loved this and while it did talk a lil about having crushes on people at school (and even had a moment or two where it was obvious it didn’t have to be a girl liking a boy), I preferred that the main focus was on Maureen and her relationship with Francine and what sixth grade can feel like.

Reading Children’s literature is sometimes soooo wildly head turning and this was one didn’t disappoint. Margo is a solitary live-in nanny for an upper-class Kensingon family. Cora is a promiscuous dancer on the cusp of a big break, living hand-to-mouth in a run-down London flat. They guide fathers through the pregnancy and the first year, focusing on specific ways they can release their super hero in service to their family. A captivating and chilling story of sibling rivalry and sisterly bonds; of grief, trauma and identity. Both heart-racing and heart-wrenching.

Also thanks to L.V. A great book for teaching twins that they are unique individuals. The pictures are very minimalist, with the red birds being the only real pop of color. After that, Maureen goes for president of student council, a position she KNOWS Francine is wanting and gunning for. Things devolve from there. Graphic Novel Review: Twins - Reading Middle Grade

Twins Margo and Cora are very different. Margo, a live in Nanny, has always been the sensible and sensitive one. Cora, a dancer, is the wild one.Identical twins are fascinating, and Lori Duffy Foster wanted to know everything she could about her children and what their identical-twin status meant. Twins is no exception. Perhaps it’s exceptional because it is Johnson’s first foray into the land of graphic novels, and his collaboration with illustrator Shannon Wright is sublime. By the same author as “Bathtime For Twins,” this book is all about twins being friends and playing together. Shelly Vaziri Flais, MD is a pediatrician who is raising her own twins and sharing valuable information along the way. Cain, Sian; Lea, Richard (7 January 2020).
