Like said before, the trailer is the lightest in its class, nevertheless it would be interesting to see if the weight could be reduced even further. The Lower Transit Bag converts into a backpack when it comes off of the Travoy for work loads that include a laptop plus binders… or maybe lunch. The included straps are as basic as it gets, it would not be too hard to come up with something better. When loaded to around the weight limit, the trailer flexes quite a lot and I really wouldn’t feel confident to exceed these limits. The Travoy, the folding bike trailer is all about turning everyday errands into an excuse to get outside on your bike.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. I see no point to the travel bags; other user reviews have noted that Burley is not a luggage manufacturer and that parts like the shoulder straps are uncomfortable. The 150 cm ROK Straps were barely long enough to wrap around the boxes and I had to use the smaller straps to secure the boxes further.I’m also strongly considering purchasing the add-on rain cover to make this an all weather situation. Burley and PeopleForBikes are working together with the aim to get more people out riding and commuting safely. Not so much a caveat, but a suggestion for the next version: it’d be nice if we could use top portion of the Travoy as a platform. There is a sprung ball bearing style release to fold the stand, which I’ve not been able to push it in far enough to release with my finger so I need to use something like some keys to push it. This is really quite difficult on narrow steps with turns and the flex in the trolley becomes even more noticeable.

I have been obsessing somewhat over disaster preparation ever since I took the SF Fire Department’s NERT ( Neighborhood Emergency Response Team) training, and a Travoy would be worth its weight in platinum in any kind of post-disaster scenario. This trailer is generally quite stable, even with a large, awkward load such as two climbing crash pads, but we did find a pretty significant weakness. We will require protocol evidence in the form of photos and video demonstrating the fault which may include product details.Although there is room for it to be improved, I don’t think there’s a better solution for everyday trips around town carrying more than can easily fit into a bag. We are moving out of the years when going somewhere with our kids requires dragging along an obscene quantity of stuff, so our use has declined, but it we still take weekly trips to the farmers’ market and the library, and as a result, our Travoy more than earns its keep. While this trailer you reviewed has some positive features – easy on/off being one – it’s missing some other useful ones. If you notice it, you can sometimes rearrange the bag’s contents around a little bit and get them off the wheels for the remainder of your trip.

I’ve strapped down some lightweight groceries on this part before, but the Travoy isn’t really designed for it. I didn’t want it on my seatpost when riding my mountain bike in the mountains (because it would prevent the dropper from dropping all the way). So by my opinion the 2020 Burley Travoy is better option but early version’s accessories are better designed!I also use it for when I go to Exhibitions such as the Caravan and Camping Show and Hampton Court Flower show without the bike. Also, depending on how much seat post is available, anyone using an under-seat stash bag may have to figure out a new way to manage those items (for me it’s usually my tire repair kit which I don’t want to have to remove each time I want to use the trailer). From the initial unpacking and no-tool assembly to the Quick Hitch and more, everything is thoughtfully considered. I use a beefy suspension seatpost on the CCX, for example, which forces the hitch to mount too low to clear my bike’s rack at my preferred seat height. When it’s disconnected from the bike its essentially a sack truck that can be used to move large or heavy objects around.

I have been using my Burley Travoy for three years I take it abroad with me, France Spain, Holland, and Belgium on the family holiday, I have also taken it to Scotland. There are plenty of ways to add your own straps and bungees which can be longer, or elastic to secure the cargo better. One of the major advantages of the Burley Travoy over other trailers is that it is easy to wheel around indoors as a trolley. The other day I attached the Travoy to an old cross bike of mine and threw all sorts of odds and ends I found in my garage into the two bags. It is pathetic that I can testify to this, but in my defense, I know I’m not the only Travoy owner who sometimes forgets to pump up the tires. The same thing happened when carrying a bag of concrete of just 25 kilos, just under the weight limit. If you're heading off-road in any capacity, we would suggest looking at some of the single-wheel touring trailer options as they don't come with the same turnover risk and can track much straighter on tight paths. it's much more comfortable to walk with the Travoy with the hitch unfolded, there is foam around the bar, and you can hold other parts of the frame too for a more ergonomic grip without constantly bumping into your heels.
